Ramblings of part time cake maker... After 2 years...

Pejam celik pejam celik... bila nengok balik my first entry kat blog ni was April 2008...means dah 2 tahun lebih dah blog cake ila ni... to be honest, ini bukan nya hasil kerja ila sahaja...ni hasil usahasama ila n hubby...Alhamdulillah, Allah granted me with a talented hubby yang creative dan pandai melukis...dan yang paling penting hubby sendiri berminat untuk sama sama berusaha menghasilkan kek kek kami...

sepanjang dua tahun ni jugak, kami juggle masa kami sebagai spouse to each other, sebagai anak kepada parents kami, sebagai parents kepada anak anak kami, sebagai full time staff to one Telco, sebagai rakan kepada kawan2... bukan senang sebenarnya... banyak perkara yang perlu dikompromi...


kami berdua selalu pegang prinsip 'jangan tamak bila ambil order'... sebab fungsi fungsi di atas tadi tu, kami harus selective bila mengambil order..selective means bukan lah memilih customer atau memilih harga cake... tp selective di sini ialah menerima tempahan bergantung kepada kesesuaian masa supaya tak menganggu tugas-tugas yang kat atas tu... Alhamdulillah setakat ni semuanya manageable...


Thanks so much pada my mum and my sister yang kadang kadang perlukan bantuan ad hoc mereka... thanks jugak to my boss yang sangat memahami dengan my hobby buat kek ni... Insyallah, I wont take advantage dengan kebaikan mereka ini...


ila and hubby jugak ada jadual tersendiri..sebagai contoh sekiranya ada org order cake, i will wake up at 4.30 am to bake cake sebelum pergi kerja... nanti lepas balik kerja, i will do the topping dan kemudian hubby akan sambung tugas seterusnya untuk drawing... untuk kek fondant pulak normally figurine nya akan dibuat lebih awal so bila nak hias selalu nya kami buat bersama sama...


normally,bila masa ila not with the kids, hubby akan be with them and vice versa... kami jugak selalu make sure weekend are always for family and friends... supaya dapat balance kan kehidupan...


sepanjang 2 thn ni jugak, ada banyak experience and challenges... kalau dapat customer yang appreciative memang seronok sangat rasa, bila customer bagi feedback pun kami rasa seronok..kalau feedback nya negative boleh dijadikan panduan untuk membaiki kelemahan, kalau feedback nya memuji muji sure rasa seronok sangat sangat... ada jugak dapat customer yang sombong, contoh macam kita angkat kotak ekk yang berat dan customer tak nak tolong pun bukak kan pintu kereta, bukak pintu kedai ke sedangkan kita sorang sorang angkat kek..rasa sedih sangat masa tu... atau ada customer yang mempertikaikan harga kek kami... tp kami selalu anggap itu adalah 'colors' to the business and experience for both of us...


ada customer yang cakap ala kalau pergi SR murah je, ada macam macam flavor cake... ada jugak customer yang nak hasil kek cantik tapi tak sanggup nak bayar harga mahal dengan alasan modal buat kek bukannya banyak sangat... sedih tu memang la sedih tapi sebagai penjual takkan kita nak cakap, yang kita kurang tidur sebab buat kek, kita keluar pergi kedai beli brg, kadang kadang penat nak explain setiap satu figurine yang kita buat tu kadang kadang ambil masa sampai 3 jam atau lebih.. kadang kadang ada customer ckp nak bentuk sekian sekian, memang end product nya nampak kecik sebab kek tu dah di carve jadi bentuk 3D, apa yang customer tak nampak sebenarnya kita kena buat kek yang sangat besar dan banyak utk kek tu di carve kan jadi bentuk yang dikehendaki tu sbb harga nya jadi mahal... and most important thing design cake kami adalah custom made...


ada jugak org ckp pada ila yang alaa bukan ila pun buat kek kek ni, hubby je yang buat...dulu dulu sedih jugak tp bila dah lama, ila rasa i have to take it positively and ucap terima kasih pada Allah sebab dapat suami yang nak sama sama berusaha buat business ni...


sepanjang 2 thn ni, ila pernah pergi kelas dua kali dengan anna, thanks anna sebab sudi terima ila sebagai student anna ... sepanjang 2 tahun ni jugak ila berdikit dikit kumpul tools untuk baking... sepanjang 2 thn ni jugak ila jumpa ramai kawan2 baru... ada customer yang sudi promote kan kek kami, terharu sungguh bila ada customer yang siap sms kat kawan2 mereka untuk view our humble blog...



sebagai cake maker yang takde asas baking and decorating dari sekolah baking tersohor, we always believe to push ourselves to the limit and keep raise the bar... for us, life is too short to be wasted...


Jangan lah pulak ada yang salah anggap dengan entry ni, bukan niat untuk mengecilkan hati sesiapa... entry ni hanya utk ila and poek sebagai kenangan dalam perjalanan bisnes kecil kecilan ini... Alhamdulillah, after 2 years Rizqcakes masih bertahan... Dan Insyallah akan cuba menghasilkan kek kek yang lebih cantik for many more years ... Insyallah...

Blue and White Hantaran & Upin Ipin Cupkes

Ordered by Sunie, a lecturer from MMU, another repeat customer of RizqCakes. I think this is her 3rd time order. The first time was her Twillight Cupcakes, which was a hit...then 2nd was something simple yg I myself tak puas hati dgn end product, disebabkan kelam kabut sebab Hafiz admitted kat ward dan order dari sunie dah diterima lebih awal. Alhamdulillah Sunia memahami dan tak serik, kali ni Sunie order dua set cupcakes.

1 set light blue and white cupcakes for her sister's wedding dan 1 set upin ipin cupcakes untuk anak-anak saudara.

cupcake hantaran ni special, sbb first time ila guna my new flower embosser, dah lama teringin kan embosser ni tapi tak beli2, mula mula tau ni dari Anna, so teringin nak buat sendiri, yeyyy last week baru beli dan terus buat untuk sunie. Basically untuk set blue and white ni, ila guna new patterned rolling pin, new alphabet cutter and new flower embosser... hehheheh... thanks sunie sbb bagi freedom pada ila untuk buat set cupcakes ni. harap maaf ye kalau hasil nya tak seberapa.

Julie started to contact me early May to ask me whether boleh buat kan kek for her sons' birthday. basically julie kenal ila through Dr Jamila (kak jem) yang ila buat kan kek Dora the Explorer earlier.


Through series of emails, RizqCakes managed to come out with 2 cakes yang Julie nak. Julie email gambar pistol dan CD chuggington for us to get at leats a basic idea utk deco cake.

Ordered by Zehan for Hafizzudin's early birthday celebration. 1 recipe choc moist cake topping with buttercream icing and hand drawn iron man. weight approximately 1.3kg... mengikut kata zehan, dia potong kecik2 so boleh le dlm 40 org mkn..ehmmm betul ke?? tapi ila rasa kalau potong size tak besar n tak kecil (sederhana) cukup utk 20pax... tp kalau nak potong slice besar dlm 10 pax...
